I had a propaganda and media class in college that I really enjoyed. The teacher gave us the textbook by putting it in the library and telling us to copy it. (Killing trees, either way. Might as well be free. – his argument.) One presentation of mine was on the Dove Real Beauty campaign, which has a great message, but at the time was still selling soap with good intentions.
Anyway, I came across this video, and it looks like they have moved toward really exposing some of what we knew was happing all along.
Crazy stuff, we do to ourselves:
Good rhetoric.
Update:
So, after clicking on my own link and exploring the Dove Web site, I found this one:
I’m totally on board with their message. In fact, this video effectively sums up my entire “Sex and Gender in the Media” course. Haunting world. Haunting.
Huh. Neat.
These are sad, but good that finally someone IN the media is warning AGAINST it’s impact on our world and how we perceive ourselves.
Thanks for showing those!!
Well. Yes. I have been thinking about the dove campaign, as I am a fervant user of dove products. I like the simple style, good clean smell. And I will admit I was proud of Dove when I first saw the above ad. I was also proud of myself for being smart enough to buy dove, like knowing a good indie band before everyone else figured it out. But still… they are selling a product. Charity for the sake of the tax return? A worthwhile message nontheless.
実際にかかわらず、われわれはどのような状況に直面しここでは、地球上の気温が増加し、これが意味するためにも私たちの生活に大きな変化します。このため、ご存じです。
i’m just glad i only have to use dove and that they will solve all my problems.
